The Hydra Arc Group of Companies houses its pressure vessel and piping fabrication business in its Sky Hill workshop complex. The group is justifiably proud of this state-of-the-art workshop complex which boasts:
A dedicated pipe shop, plasma & laser cutting shop, machine shop, vast stores, electrical shop, diesel & petrol repair shop, carpentry shop and extensive lay-down areas.
Fabrication facilities of 110 000m² of which 75 000m² is under roof.
Cranage and the most technologically advanced equipment which facilitates the fabrication and handling of vessels, and other items, of up to 700 tonnes.
Two post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) ovens; one of 70 x 10m with temperatures up to 750°C. The second oven measures 15 x 6m with temperature capabilities up to 950°C.
Other equipment housed in the Sky Hill Heavy Engineering facility include the following: a double column horizontal boring mill, which it believes may be the world’s largest, a vertical machining centre, a bridge-type machine centre
